Die Struck Pins
Classic Metal Pins
The process to create Die Struck Lapel Pins begins with the creation of a custom die of your lapel pin design. Then a sheet of copper, brass, or iron is stamped using the die, which creates a deep impression of your design in the metal.
Cut-to-shape molds are made separately and used to stamp out the pin design impressions in the outline of the finished design. Plating the pins comes next. For this type of pin, the most common platings are high polished gold, nickel (silver), black nickel, and copper.

Custom Die Struck Pins
Traditionally, the raised metal surfaces are then highly polished to a luster finish, while the recessed areas are sandblasted to create a contrast. Some of the most popular platings are our antique platings. The antiquing can be done subtly, for a matte finish, or more heavily, for a more rustic patina. Choosing to antique your pins is an inexpensive way to increase perceived value and to make the design details really stand out.
Why are die struck pins popular?

The metal plating is the next step in the process. For soft enamel pins, the most common plating types are gold, nickel (silver), copper, and black nickel (dark silver/black chrome). The raised metal surfaces are polished to a mirror finish, and the recessed metal areas that were stamped are filled with an enamel paint.

FAQ
What is your minimum order?
Our minimum order quantity is 100. In certain situations, we can manufacture and sell orders as small as 50 pins, but there is a below-minimum fee that often applies and the unit pricing is higher than that at quantity 100. Please contact us for additional details.
How long does it take to get my pins?
Although every pin is a little different, since everything we make is 100% custom, our orders typically deliver 7-10 business days after you pay for your order. That said, if you require a quicker turnaround, we will make every effort to accommodate it.
Can I get my pins faster than the typical turnaround time?
Even though our standard turnaround times are some of the fastest in the industry, we understand that sometimes you need your pins even quicker than usual. As such, we work with all customers to understand their deadlines at the beginning of the quoting process. We can either work with our production team to shave a few days off the delivery date or we can guide you into an alternate product type that can more easily facilitate rush production.
