Making Custom Cloisonné Lapel Pins
Cloisonné lapel pins, also known as hard enamel pins, feature a jewelry quality finish, highly polished to a lustrous shine.
Cloisonné pins, also known as hard enamel, are typically struck out from sheets of brass, creating deep impressions of your design details, while leaving raised metal outlines. These outlines hold each enamel color fill in place. The recessed areas are filled using a colored hard enamel powder, which completely covers the raised metal outlines. The pins are then fired at high temperature in a kiln, in order to melt the hard enamel powder. From there, the pins are buffed and polished so that the enamel is level with the raised metal. This ensures that the raised metals are mirror finished, and that the surface of the pin is smooth to the touch.
Because of the nature of the cloisonné process, your pin will boast deep, rich colors, along with an unmistakable gloss. Cloisonné lapel pins are known for high-end quality, and are the perfect choice for when you want to make a bold statement. Whether you are selling them as a product, using them in a marketing campaign, or wearing them at a tradeshow, Cloisonné lapel pins are the best choice for a polished and professional look.

Why cloisonné lapel pins should be used for your next project
Cloisonne pins are one of the best ways for you to leave a lasting impression with your clients, customers, employees or fans. Cloisonne gives your logo or art design a gorgeous high gloss finish, allowing small details and lettering to stand out. Cloisonne (or hard enamel) pins are the top choice for our customers because they offer a smoother and shinier appearance than both die struck and soft enamel. Although they are similar, cloisonne stands out from soft enamel because of its glossy finish and smooth, high polished metal areas.
Custom hard enamel pins work great as merchandise, as a giveaway item, or simply as an attention getter for your brand. They are hand polished to an intense reflective finish that communicates high quality and a sense of style. Their stylish look is what gives Cloisonne lapel pins their ‘High value corporate’ aesthetic. Cloisonne pins can also function as years of service awards for employees. Paired with presentation boxes or custom card stock, they make excellent commemorative gifts that your employees can wear with pride.

A little History on Epola Pins /Cloisonne pins
Cloisonne (or hard enamel) pin making originated in the Byzantine Empire in the thirteenth century. The process involved creating a grid on a bronze or brass plate (the base metal). The grid was then filled with powdered hard enamel and fired to melt the colored powder into glass. The process was repeated until the grid was completely full. The piece was then ready for polishing. The process today is still done in a similar fashion and is generally the most high value type of lapel pin that can be produced. Today, the pin is dye-stamped with your own custom design. The raised metal lines separate the recessed areas where the powdered enamel will be placed and melted.
